19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player won his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on court had caused some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour title, took control to push for a decider.

He rescued four initial chances in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
